The Road to the NFL: Jack Corcoran's Draft Blog #7 (...and #8)

Written by Jack Corcoran on 04/03/2010

Sometimes life gets in the way of things. For me it's been a pretty hectic couple of weeks. As you may know we run this site whilst holding down full time jobs. We try our hardest to keep putting stuff out there but sometimes, life takes over. So my apologies to Jack and to his readers, here's a double dose of Blog entries from Jack. We're under a month now til the draft. Things are hotting up and Jack's going to be spending some time jetting round the country visiting NFL Teams. I'll let him fill you in on what's been happening. - Ben

Now that my Pro-Timing day is over I am not just sitting around.

I am still working out hard every day and just waiting to take some visits to see teams and meet their coaches. I am staying at my parents house and finishing up my class work so I can complete my degree.

After talking to some other guys who have went through the draft process has said the time between the Pro-Day and the Draft is the most nerve-wracking time. I find myself not poking around on the Internet seeing where I am projected to be drafted.

The way I look at it is that I let my agent, Rob Roche, handle the process of getting my info out to the teams. Rob has been great and that is why I hired him.

Before I wrap up this week I would like to congratulate my guy Mike Caussin, former James Madison tight end, on a great Pro-Day. Mike was a training partner of mine in Atlanta. I heard Mike really had a great workout and really wowed the scouts.

Now that we are getting closer to the NFL Draft the reality is setting in that I will become a professional football player.

I hope I get drafted, but if I don't I believe I'll latch on with a team as a free agent. My agent, Rob Roche, has told me several teams are interested in me. Among the teams are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

When you are in my position you can't be choosy. Sure, every draftable player has a favorite team they want to play for at the next level. Right now I just want to hear my name called on draft day.

I have a visit and workout set up with the New York Giants for April. So right now that is keeping me focused and busy in the weight room. Other than that, I am just plugging away with my schoolwork working my way towards my degree.

I would also like to thank everybody who has posted in the comments section of my previous journals. Thanks so much for reading. I really appreciate it.
