Scouting Report-I really like Moreno as an NFL back. It appears I am in the minority, but he's just so natural and so fluid when he runs. Eyes always upfield, legs never stop going, great change of direction, the works. No, he's not Adrian Peterson but for my money he's a much better all around prospect than Darren McFadden was. It's tough to punch holes in Moreno's game. Some say he's too small, and I suppose compared to Brandon Jacobs he is. Some say he doesn't time fast enough but being able to break off 60 yard touchdowns has never been a pre-requisite for me. He scored 30 touchdowns in two seasons as a starter. he can find the end zone. He's a solid blocker and receiver and has solid ball security.
Draft Status-Moreno is almost a lock for a first round pick. The debate is, who's goes first him or Beanie Wells? They are really contrasting types of backs, so who gets drafted when will depend greatly on which team is drafting. I can see Moreno as a great fit for a team like the New York Jets who need an every down type player.
Final Analysis-As the draft gets closer, the more I am convinced Moreno is the best all around back in this draft, with Donald Brown close second. I am also convinced that he has almost no shot of being drafted before Beanie Wells because he has such a size edge. Whoever drafts Moreno is going to get a really good football player but probably not a real flashy one.
Reminds me of: Edgerin James-Similar build, similar skills, and similar downplayed sort of running style. Both end up getting yards when they shouldn't and never look to be going very fast, even when they are.
