Scouting Report
Maclin is an interesting character. He's probably the most explosive athlete in the whole draft. There is no one in this draft(with respect to Percy Harvin) who operates in space like Maclin can. He's super agile and a great jumper, with long arms that makes up for less than ideal height. He's got great hands, and is just super smooth on the field. Able to get speration from defenses with his quickness and looks to take every touch to the house. On the flip side, Maclin doesn't run sharp routes, isn't particularly strong after the catch and won't help the run game with his blocking. Don't misunderstand me, those shortcomings do matter, but Maclin's upside, versitility and explosion far outweigh his weaknesses. I can't forget that Maclin is probably the top punt and kick returning in the prospect as well, and can line up in the backfield and run it like a running back also.
Draft Status
At one point, Maclin was bring discussed as the top WR in the draft, because of Michael Crabtree's injury. That's probably too bold, because Crabtree's skillset as a wide out is just superior but regardless Maclin is the no.2 in this draft, and that means he'll likely be gone in ithe top half of the first round. Every team wants that homerun threat not only on offense but in the return game as well. If Maclin could get in and out of his breaks quicker, and run sharper routes he'll be unstoppable. I like Maclin to fall no further than Houston in the first round.

Reminds me of: Reggie Bush
The strengths of Maclin's game mimic the strength's of Bush's game very closely. Physically they are very similar, and even many of their shortcomings are the same. Where Maclin has an edge is, he's a far more polished wide out, and is playing the proper position for his skillset. With so many teams throwing more and more a player like Maclin can be a great asset. Maclin may not time on the stop watch the way many thought he would, but he's got crazy field speed. He just pulls away from players.
