8 Players eligible for the NFL Supplemental Draft

Every year there are a few players who for one reason or another find themselves ineligible for school, and if it happens during the right window, they can declare for the NFL Supplemental Draft.  It's not a true draft in the traditional sense, it's more of an auction.

Quickly, the draft allows teams to bid with a pick, in any of the traditional 7 rounds.  For example if a team bids their 4th round pick, and no other team bids higher, that team gets the player, and forfeits that pick the following year.

This year per Gregg Rosenthal @greggrosenthal on Twitter, 8 players have found themselves in a position where they were not eligible to return to their schools in the Fall so they find themselves waiting for July 12th to come and see if their football careers continue.

The 8 players in this year's draft are pretty unremarkable.

Curt's Heisman Hopefuls for the 2012 College Football Season

I tell myself every year that I am not going to do this. And every year I do it anyway. I’ve voiced my opinion about the “value” of the Heisman Trophy many times so I will save the keystrokes. But in my old age what I have come to understand is that it has its place in college football, just as bowl games do.

Predicting all the Bowl Games

Let's roll through the Bowls, all 35 of them, in chronological order (maybe). I'm going to lay out who's playing in each one and then make a prediction on who'll win. Yet again I'll point out if I put money on my own predictions my kids would starve. I heartily recommend that you don't base anything financial on my predictions!

 New Mexico Bowl
 Who: BYU vs. UTEP
 Winner: BYU

 uDrove Humanitarian Bowl
Who: Northern Illinois vs. Fresno State
 Winner: Fresno State

College Football Game of the Week, and some other crap

First off, I need to apologize for not getting any content up on the site last week.  I need to apologize to my readers, as well as the great group of guys who make this site happen.  I needed to hold up my end of things and last week I did not.  Sometimes life, and by life I mean being a full time school teacher, full time graduate student as well as father and husband eats up whatever tiny remaining free time I have to actually take the thoughts and ideas I get from watching college football(which I always do), and getting them to the site.  I owe it to my regular readers and I owe it to John, Ben, and Mark, my close friends who I get to do this site with to get information out there.

Clearing up the Undrafted Free Agency Sweepstakes

Of the hundreds of guys who go undrafted each year, some of them give up the dream of playing football and opt for further education like New Hampshire's Scott Sicko (DBI wishes you the best of luck by the way Scott). Some give up on the NFL and go play elsewhere but some of the luckier ones get picked up by NFL teams as Undrafted Free Agents. Some of these guys even end up being paid more than their colleagues drafted in rounds 5 onwards. How does that happen? Well quite simply, some of these guys are in very high demand with several teams chasing their signature. Competition, as any agent will tell you, is going to get you paid more.

Sure lots of guys signed as UDFAs are nothing but camp fodder but for some they have a chance to earn a spot in the league and for some, it's as more than a Special Teams demon and backup. Take a look at this lineup:

Week 12 college Preview

Week 12 of the college football season is upon us, and I won't even lie, this week doesn't thrill me.  I suppose it was inevitable that there would be a down week and it took 3 months to get there.  Am I saying there won't be great football?  Not at all.  In fact in many cases it's weekends like this that generate some of the most exciting and competitive games of the year.   What I am saying is there are no marquee matchups, BCS buster type games, or games with dramatic conference or BCS implications.  This is a weekend I call a weekend for the fans.  But there are still some games of particular interest to me, and since I'm the only one talkin', you get to read about them.

Snap Judgment College Football Week 11

This weekend promised big excitement and it delivered. Once again the NCAA rolled out a slate of amazing matchup and incredible performances. Some of the things that stood out to me as I poured over these games all weekend.

In the TCU/Utah game you could just see that every time Utah got a little momentum, TCU just choked it off either with a big play off defense or on offense. In my latest power poll I am going to have a hard time not just being a jerk and putting TCU in the top 2, because honestly, I don't know if there's a team in the nation that could beat them right now.

If Alabama doesn't get nailed for giving Mark Ingram special privledges not only to reward him for this year, but to also try and coax him back next year they aren't trying hard enough. I know Alabama has a great defense, b
