Best of the Bunch-Quarterbacks

Quarterbacks-This list isn’t about best NFL draft prospect. And it’s not based solely on who the best starter is. In college football, the backup quarterback is one play away from being on the field and a team with depth is crucial. The 4 teams I listed below have dynamic playmakers, pro prospects, and in some cases carry their teams on their backs.

College Football Pre-Season Top 25

Preseason Top 25

1. Alabama-Even with their losses, they are still so talented on both sides of the football.

2. USC-Probably a national title contender last year if not for their sanctions. Should be in the thick of it all year long.

3. LSU-Another team that took significant losses in terms of personnel but looks ready to reload.

4. Oklahoma-There are questions on both sides of the football, but you can’t deny the passing attack promises to be explosive.

5. Oregon-This ranking could change greatly if the Ducks struggle to find someone to step in for Darron Thomas at quarterback.

Curt's Heisman Hopefuls for the 2012 College Football Season

I tell myself every year that I am not going to do this. And every year I do it anyway. I’ve voiced my opinion about the “value” of the Heisman Trophy many times so I will save the keystrokes. But in my old age what I have come to understand is that it has its place in college football, just as bowl games do.

First Round Breakdown - The Runningbacks

When it comes to the NFL Draft, Runningbacks are sort of an enigma and for the 2011 NFL draft that's unlikely to change. There is no position in the draft that is more under valued than Runningback. You only see a handful of players who earn a pick in the first round and for the most part those that do have done so because of some rare physical gifts or ridiculous career numbers. Even then it can be rare to see them drafted very high, despite the difference a great RB can make to a team in the NFL. With more and more NFL teams preferring a platoon situation you're not likely to see 3 guys fly off the board inside the Top 15. With an 18 game season a big possibility as well,  the days of the every down RB might be gone forever.

Predicting all the Bowl Games

Let's roll through the Bowls, all 35 of them, in chronological order (maybe). I'm going to lay out who's playing in each one and then make a prediction on who'll win. Yet again I'll point out if I put money on my own predictions my kids would starve. I heartily recommend that you don't base anything financial on my predictions!

 New Mexico Bowl
 Who: BYU vs. UTEP
 Winner: BYU

 uDrove Humanitarian Bowl
Who: Northern Illinois vs. Fresno State
 Winner: Fresno State

Saturday College Football Game of the Week Breakdown (and some other crap)

I'd say most agree that this week's game of the week is No.1 ranked Alabama traveling to play the no.19 South Carolina.  I just happen to disagree.  Yes, the Gamecocks are better, but this Alabama team is scary good.  I saw the line on this game was 10.  No way the Gamecocks keep it that close.

We are going to get to see some really great running backs in this game.  And for Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson it could be a huge day.  Unfortunately for South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore, he's going to have to run into guys like Crimson Tide defensive lineman Marcel Dareus (who looked like a top 5 pick against Florida), LBs Dont'a Hightower, and Nico Johnson and Safetys Mark Barron and Robert Lester.  As good as he may be, it's going to be a long day.

College Football Preview-Week 4

Alright football fans, I am going to flip the script a little on what I normally do.  No, I will still do a some predicitions sure to go wrong on a few of the big games.  But this is a draft site, so instead of breaking down the games, I'm going to break down 5 prospects to watch for the weekend of college football.

Week 2 Snap Judgment-College edition

First off, let me answer all the questions that have been asked of me right now.  No, I don't bet on football.  I have never and would never.  And moreso, I'd never tell anyone to bet on football based on my predictions.  I don't bet on anything.  I don't play the lottery, none of that crap.  I have always said if I had to bet football to feed my family, they would starve to death.  So, please don't complain if you take my preview and bet on games and lose.  Besides, I don't trust guys who sell you their picks.  If they were really that damn smart, they'd be billionaires from just betting the games themselves.  But now I've had time to go through and watch all the top games, and digest some of what I saw.  Here's this week's snap judgements.
