Clearing up the Undrafted Free Agency Sweepstakes

Of the hundreds of guys who go undrafted each year, some of them give up the dream of playing football and opt for further education like New Hampshire's Scott Sicko (DBI wishes you the best of luck by the way Scott). Some give up on the NFL and go play elsewhere but some of the luckier ones get picked up by NFL teams as Undrafted Free Agents. Some of these guys even end up being paid more than their colleagues drafted in rounds 5 onwards. How does that happen?
